Climate Justice Lab

Youth Turning Waste Into Opportunity

The Climate Justice Lab is a youth-led sustainability initiative of MY Project USA transforming our warehouse into a hands-on center for reuse, recycling, environmental education, and community action.

Led by our Climate Justice Warriors, the Lab is being reorganized into dedicated areas for sorting, recycling, refurbishing, creative reuse, workshops, and community engagement.

Meet the Climate Justice Warriors

The Climate Justice Warriors are primarily high school students who are learning about environmental justice by taking responsibility for a real community sustainability project.

The current leadership team grew from our 2025 cohort of students from New Albany High School. They worked through the winter, learned the warehouse operation, sorted and evaluated thousands of donated items, researched reuse and recycling solutions, and continued their work even after flooding disrupted the facility.

What They Are Building

Reuse & Refurbish
Giving donated furniture, household goods, clothing, toys, shoes, and other materials a second life.

Recycle Responsibly
Creating organized recycling stations and developing partnerships for textiles, plastics, electronics, and other materials.

Learn & Lead
Giving young people hands-on experience in sustainability, leadership, problem-solving, and community service.

Engage the Community
Developing workshops, collection events, educational campaigns, and a social media campaign to help more families and young people participate in climate action.
